Amazon Appstore app name checker and rules
Our check can't see apps that aren't live yet, so Amazon's review has the final say on your name. How our checks work
What can an Amazon Appstore app title contain?
The display title customers see can be up to 200 characters, by Amazon's 2024 guidance, but Amazon says to keep it brief. Our checker keeps to 2 to 30 characters. Amazon's listing rules also ban ALL CAPS, emojis, prices and HTML.
| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| Accurate and unique | Different from the listings of your other apps |
| No ALL CAPS or emojis | And no repeated words |
| No prices | No app or in-app prices, and no Amazon product codes (ASINs) |
| Amazon, Kindle, Fire | Only as Amazon's trademark guidelines allow |
| Others' rights | Nothing that infringes a third party's intellectual property |
| Plain text | HTML fails testing and delays publishing |
What do you need for an Amazon developer account?
An Amazon account and a government ID; the identity check takes a few minutes.
| Need | Detail |
|---|---|
| Amazon account | Sign in to the Developer Console with the same email |
| Identity | Front and back photos of the account owner's government ID |
| Name | Your Company Profile name must match the ID, even for a business |
| Under 18 | A parent or guardian creates the account |
| To earn money | US and Canadian tax interviews, plus bank details |

What should you know before you start on the Amazon Appstore?
The store now serves only Fire devices, and the title customers see is its own field.
| Fact | What it means |
|---|---|
| Fire devices only | Amazon stopped supporting the Appstore on other Android devices on 20 Aug 2025 |
| Two titles | The app title is only for the Developer Console; the display title is what customers see |
| Package name | Must be unique, and can't include "amazon" |
| Three tries | You fail identity verification after 3 attempts |
What can go wrong on the Amazon Appstore, and how do you fix it?
Most rejections come from listing text, so the fix is usually an edit.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Listing rejected or suppressed | Remove policy breaks, prices, emojis and ALL CAPS from the metadata |
| Text fails testing | Remove HTML; fields take plain text only |
| Submissions restricted | Finish identity verification |
| ID check fails | Make your Company Profile name match your ID |
