What founders tried to name their business in Q4 2026
Each quarter we report what people check on Zero To 1000 and how often their first choice is already taken. This is the first quarter: October to December 2026.
What did we find when we named Zero To 1000?
Most .com names were gone: 105 of the 133 we tried on 23 October 2026 were already registered. That's why we built a checker that looks at 54 platforms, including 11 domain endings, at once. Check your name or read our mission.[1]
What will this report count?
Four things, each as a share of public searches in the quarter.
| Measure | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| First choice taken on .com | How often the name people want is already gone |
| Platforms picked first | Where founders want their name most |
| Endings chosen instead of .com | Which alternatives people accept |
| Industries checked | Which fields are most crowded |
If your .com is taken, Which domain ending should I pick? and What to do when your handle is taken cover the next step.
When do the numbers appear?
When 30 or more names have been typed in public searches this quarter. We leave out our own tests and private searches, and each count shows the dates it covers. How our checks work[2]
Do we publish the names people type?
No. The report shows totals only, never a name someone typed. How we store searches is in our privacy policy.
