Pinterest username checker and rules
Your Pinterest username becomes your profile address, pinterest.com/yourname. Our check reads Pinterest from the outside, so treat "looks available" as a name to confirm when you sign up. How our checks work
What can a Pinterest username contain?

How do you create a Pinterest business account?
Create a business account on a computer, or convert a personal account you already have.
- Check the name above, with Instagram and the .com.
- On a computer, go to pinterest.com, choose Sign up, then create a business account.
- Enter an email that isn't on another Pinterest account, a password and your age.
- Fill in your profile and business description, and choose whether to run ads.
- Set your username in Settings, then Edit profile.
Already have a personal account? Convert it under Settings, then Account management, in the app or on a computer; your Pins and followers stay. A private account must be made public first.[1, 2]
What should you know before you pick a Pinterest username?
You can change your username in Edit profile, and Pinterest's help page gives no limit on how often.
| Fact | What it means |
|---|---|
| Deactivated accounts | Their usernames stay tied to them until the owner edits them |
| Closed accounts | Deleted after 7 days; Pinterest doesn't say when the username returns |
| Trademarks | Brands that want a username use Pinterest's trademark report. Pinterest may transfer usernames as appropriate |
| Similar names | Sharing a name or a similar username isn't impersonation on its own |
What can go wrong with a Pinterest username, and how do you fix it?
If the name is taken, pick a close version, or release it from an old account you still control.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The username is taken | Use a close version; the checker finds one available on your other platforms too (what to do when your handle is taken) |
| An old account of yours holds it | Log in to that account and edit its username to release it |
| Someone poses as your business | Report account impersonation with their profile URL and proof of who you are |
| Your personal account won't convert | Make it public, and unlink any linked account |
Which platforms should you claim with Pinterest?
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and the .com. See every social media platform we check, then read Growing Pinterest.
