Solana .sol name checker and rules
SNS, the Solana Name Service, stopped new .sol registrations and now registers .sns instead. The checker above tries your name as a .sns. How our checks work
Can you still register a .sol name?
No. SNS paused new .sol registrations on 17 August 2026 and reopened registrations under .sns, so check the same name as a .sns. Our checker takes letters, numbers and hyphens, up to 32 characters.[1, 3]
What happened to existing .sol names?
They stayed in their wallets, with records, subdomains and settings intact, and now display as .sns. Their holders also get a new .sol with the same name.
| Step | What SNS says |
|---|---|
| Snapshot | Shortly after 17 August 2026 |
| Delivery | Late September to early October, to the wallet that held the name |
| Listed names | The new .sol goes to the wallet that listed it |
| What you do | Nothing: no claim, wallet connection, signature or fee |
| Eligibility | Check it at migration.sns.id |
When will a new .sol name work?
Not before 1 December 2026. New .sol names arrive without records, primary-domain settings or subdomains; SNS adds those in a final phase, from late 2026 into early 2027.
Until then, some apps may stop resolving older .sol names, so share the .sns version. Then set it up.[1, 2]
What can go wrong with a .sol name, and how do you fix it?
Most problems come from the split into two names, and from scams that use it.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The .sol is taken | Check the .sns and the close versions the checker shows |
| Your .sol doesn't resolve | Use the .sns version until new .sol names work |
| Your .sns and .sol sit in different wallets | They're separate names, and a sale moves only the .sns. Move them together |
| Someone asks you to claim your new .sol | It's a scam. SNS never asks for your seed phrase and never messages you first |
Which platforms should you claim with your .sol name?
SNS's .sns, the .com, X, Discord and Telegram, or check every open Web3 name.
Checks SNS (.sns), the .com, X, Telegram and Discord invite in one search.
