Using your .sol name
Until new .sol names start working, a .sol is used through its .sns version.

Basics
What can you do with a .sol name today?
Use its .sns version. A .sol held before 17 August 2026 kept its records, subdomains and settings as a .sns, so payments, profiles and websites work there. See using your .sns name.[1]
Can you set up a new .sol name yet?
Not yet: SNS adds records, primary-domain settings and subdomains to new .sol names in a final phase, from late 2026 into early 2027. Meanwhile, check the same name as a .sns, or read what changed for .sol.[1, 2]
Advanced
How do apps handle .sol names during the switch to .sns?
Apps using SNS's sns-sdk-kit stop resolving older .sol names after Solana slot 452,825,395, and the kit can't write .sol records. New .sol names run on a newer registry that SNS calls SRS.[1, 3]
