What can a myshopify.com address contain?

Shopify doesn't publish the rule, so our checker uses 4 to 60 letters, numbers and hyphens, with no hyphen first or last. Shopify itself sets two rules.

Rule	What it means
Store name is separate	Changing it doesn't change the address, and you can change it any time
No Shopify marks	Shopify's terms bar names that could be confused with its trademarks

How do you get your myshopify.com address?

Check the name above, with the .com and Instagram.
Sign up with your full legal name, business address, phone number and email.
Your store gets its myshopify.com address when you sign up.
To change it, go to Settings > Domains and edit it.^{[2, 3, 4]}

What should you know before you start a Shopify store?

The address can change only once, and the first one stays your login.

Old address	Redirects to the new one, but stays your admin login and support ID
Trial ends	The store pauses until you pick a plan; your data is kept
